The Other Bookshelf Bookclub

We all have a part to play in the fight against racism and Coastal Research, Education and Advocacy Network (CREAN) is hosting a summer book club called The Other Bookshelf to deepen our understanding of issues around racism through popular works of fiction and non-fiction!

On August 3 and 31, join educators as we deepen our understanding of how to resist white supremacy in the education system. Using books, we hope to learn practices to level the playing field for BIPOC students. This book club will be an opportunity for educators to embrace antiracist teaching, advocate for social justice education, promote systemic equitable policies, and how to collaborate with community partners to uplift marginalized students and families.

The Other Bookshelf book club is an opportunity for educators to 1) read anti-racist texts, 2) discuss how we can be practice anti-racism in our classrooms, and 3) support one another in anti-racist education.
