It’s been a busy summer…
…and we hope you’re enjoying the warmth and sunshine. Here’s a quick update from Coastal Research, Education, and Advocacy Network (formerly Vancouver Island Public Interest Research Group).
Indigenous Health Research.
In July, we commenced a community based research project called “Barriers to Over-the-Counter Prescription Services for Indigenous Peoples”. The objective of the research project is to explore various procedural barriers associated with getting over-the-counter (OTC) prescriptions. Information will be compiled in a report and disseminated widely in the Fall.
We are working closely with an advisory committee comprised of indigenous community members and pharmacists. We’ll commence (virtual) data collection across BC in September, which will include surveys, focus groups, and interviews with community members and pharmacists.
Interested in joining the advisory committee? Please respond to this email :)
BIPOC Business Mentorship.
We are passionate about youth empowerment and in these COVID-19 times, it’s important that BIPOC business owners can revive and sustain their businesses. We know that these business owners in turn contribute to their communities, and the larger economy.
CREAN’s recently launched virtual mentorship program gives youth the resources to develop new ideas and unleash their potential. The program will connect youth with passionate business leaders that will empower youth to succeed and take their business to the next level.
Have a great weekend ⛱
