Kwetlal Gift cards available at VIPIRG
If you are looking for a way to support the Community Tool Shed we have a new set of “Kwetlal Gift Cards” created by a our good friend Annie.
All proceeds go towards the Community Tool Shed with a suggested donation of $5 each.
Cards are available at UVic in the Student Union Building Room B122 Monday to Thursday 10-3. Please contact ctoolshed@gmail.com or mapping@lekwungenfoodsystems.org for more information.
Each card is purple with the Kwetlal (camas) flower design, blank inside for a personal note, and comes with an envelope and raffia tie. On the back is information about reinstating the Kwetlal Food System followed by this lovely quote from Community Tool shed founder Cheryl Bryce:
“The Garry Oak Ecosystem is a living artifact of my ancestors. The Lekwungen people will continue to harvest and pitcook Kwetlal for many years to come. Its importance is vital to our history, traditions and future role generations. There is still so much work to do in regards to reinstating Kwetlal food system and cultural roles. The Community Tool Shed will help set a network of people working toward reinstating these amazing food systems.” Cheryl Bryce, December 2011.
