Anti-Racism Workshop: Empowering Educators to Build Safe Classrooms
CREAN Society is hosting a free anti-racism workshop for educators. This workshop was prompted by the results of a recent study as part of the Anti-Racism in Education (ARIE) Project, which explored high school students’ experiences with racism in the school system.
The study found that a large proportion of students reported experiences of racism within an education setting and that these remarks and microaggressions had a negative effect on their academics and emotional wellbeing. These findings call for the importance of educating school staff on how to handle reports of racism and promote a culturally safe and inclusive learning environment.
The upcoming Anti-Racism Workshop was featured on Victoria Buzz. Read the full article here.
